Lumos is a T-Mobile Fiber partner — a joint venture of T-Mobile and EQT — and in July 2024 it announced a 230-million-dollar investment to build nearly 2,000 miles of fiber-optic network for homes and small businesses in Mahoning and Trumbull Counties. Its residential service is now sold as T-Mobile Fiber. In Youngstown, construction started on the North Side.
Where is it available?
In Youngstown, the North Side went first. As of September 25, 2026, Lumos's own Ohio page lists Youngstown and Warren as available and Boardman, Poland, Austintown, Canfield, Campbell and Struthers as coming soon. Availability is decided address by address, so even in a town listed as available, a specific home has to be checked.
Is it available at my address yet?
Maybe — it depends on the address. Lumos lists Youngstown and Warren as available, and even there service is decided address by address. In July 2026 Lumos said county permitting requirements had forced it to suspend plans that would have expanded fiber access to about 200,000 households across Mahoning and Stark counties, and it has asked the FCC to preempt those requirements. So there is no date to give for the towns listed as coming soon — the honest answer for any specific home is to check that address with the provider.
How does fiber get sold here — and how do I work it?
New fiber is sold the same way solar and alarms are: at the door. Reps knock neighborhoods where addresses can order service and offer T-Mobile Fiber, which uploads as fast as it downloads, with no annual contract.
