Lumos is building it. Lumos is the fiber partner behind T-Mobile Fiber — a joint venture of T-Mobile and EQT — and it announced a 230-million-dollar investment to build roughly 2,000 miles of 100% fiber-optic network across Mahoning and Trumbull Counties. Engineering and construction have been rolling through the Valley since 2024–25, with residents notified as the build reaches their streets.
Where is it being installed first?
Youngstown's North Side went first, with Boardman and Poland underway. Austintown, Canfield, Warren, Niles, Girard, Struthers, and Campbell are part of the planned metro-wide buildout as construction expands north and out from Youngstown. Because it's a fresh build, availability rolls out block by block — coverage varies by street, and new addresses come online as the network grows.
Is it available at my address yet?
Maybe — it depends on your street. The Valley build is early: the first live addresses are in Youngstown's North Side, Boardman, and Poland, and the footprint expands from there. It is not available Valley-wide yet, so the honest answer for most addresses is "coming, check with the provider." That early-build window is exactly why door-to-door reps are in demand right now.
How does fiber get sold here — and how do I work it?
New fiber is sold the same way solar and alarms are: at the door. Reps knock neighborhoods where the network is going in and offer faster internet for a lower bill, no contract.
