Norfolk at a glance

Military households set up service fast and move often; the walkable grids of Ghent and Ocean View knock efficiently.

Norfolk counted 238,005 residents at the 2020 census — about 231,100 by the Census Bureau's 2024 estimate — on roughly 53 square miles of land and 43 of water. Naval Station Norfolk, on Sewell's Point, is the largest naval complex in the world by the Navy's own description, and the Defense Department tops the state's list of the city's largest employers; Sentara Health, founded in Norfolk in 1888, and Old Dominion University, which counts more than 24,000 students, also rank near the top. Fourteen percent of adults are veterans, the median age is about 32, and 54 percent of homes are rented. For a recruiter that is a pool of military spouses, veterans, students and hospital shift workers.

Norfolk fiber sales — FAQ

Can I start selling fiber in Norfolk with no experience?
In Norfolk the opening is for team leads and their crews, not solo reps, and no experience requirement is set. If you run a door-to-door crew, or have two or more people ready to knock with you, apply as a team. Solo reps: apply anyway — we keep your application and reach out when Norfolk opens to solo reps.
How does the pay work?
It's commission only — paid every two weeks on completed installs, with no base. Individual results vary; no earnings are guaranteed.
Which Norfolk neighborhoods will I work?
Your addresses come from the partner sales organization you contract with. This page covers Norfolk and nearby areas such as Ghent, Ocean View, Larchmont, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, and Suffolk. It does not confirm a territory for you.
Is this W-2 employment or a 1099 contract?
It's a 1099 independent contractor opportunity, not W-2 employment — you set your own schedule within the partner's market; the partner sales organization provides its brand, scripts and support.
Who's hiring for fiber sales jobs near me in Norfolk?
KnockFiber is recruiting door-to-door team leads and crews to sell T-Mobile fiber in Norfolk and the surrounding Hampton Roads area — in Norfolk the opening is for teams. If you run a door-to-door crew, or have two or more people ready to knock with you, apply as a team. Solo reps: apply anyway — we keep your application and reach out when Norfolk opens to solo reps. Commission-only 1099; individual results vary and no earnings are guaranteed.
Is T-Mobile Fiber available in Norfolk right now?
Yes, at serviceable addresses. T-Mobile's fiber availability page lists Norfolk, and its Norfolk city page shows 300 Mbps, 1 Gig and 2 Gig plans with the note that service is not available in all areas. The network belongs to Metronet, which T-Mobile and KKR acquired through a joint venture in July 2025. Metronet says it began construction in Norfolk in November 2021 and opened service installation in February 2023; the City of Norfolk's own page said the build would start north of Norview Road and west of Sewells Point Road and estimated three to four years to finish. Every address is still checked individually.
Which Hampton Roads cities are on T-Mobile's fiber list?
Five: Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Portsmouth and Hampton, each with its own T-Mobile city page, as of September 2026. The builders differ by city. Metronet built Norfolk; Lumos, now also in a T-Mobile joint venture, won franchise approvals in 2022 from Chesapeake, Portsmouth and Virginia Beach for a build aimed at more than 85,000 residents and small businesses, and its own page lists Virginia Beach and Chesapeake as fiber available and Portsmouth as coming soon. Suffolk and Newport News are not on T-Mobile's list. A Norfolk rep can ask the sales organization which neighboring city has open routes.
How do weather and hurricane season shape knocking in Norfolk?
The Atlantic hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30, per the National Hurricane Center, and the City of Norfolk publishes a list of flooded streets and intersections, so check it after heavy rain before driving to a route. NOAA's 1991-2020 normals for Norfolk International Airport show about 49 inches of rain a year, July highs near 89 degrees with about 36 days at 90 degrees or hotter, and January highs near 51 degrees with about 6 inches of snow in a normal winter. Spring and fall are the most comfortable months to knock; in summer, mornings and early evenings work best.

Blitz teams

A blitz team travels to whichever market has just opened for door-to-door fiber sales — not necessarily this one — works it intensively for a set window, then moves on. KnockFiber is looking for blitz teams, blitz managers and reps who will travel to work fresh markets.
