Grand Rapids at a glance

West Michigan's family-dense neighborhoods answer the door — and the metro's growth keeps handing reps brand-new territory.

Grand Rapids counted 198,917 residents at the 2020 census and about 200,100 by the Census Bureau's Vintage 2024 estimate, on roughly 45 square miles of land. Corewell Health, which counts more than 64,000 people and 21 hospitals, keeps one of its two headquarters here and runs Butterworth Hospital on Michigan Street NE, and Grand Valley State University, which operates a Pew Campus in the city, enrolled 22,035 students in fall 2025. About 57 percent of the city's housing units are detached single-family homes and 55 percent of occupied homes are owner-occupied, but only about 6 percent were built in 2010 or later, and population growth is concentrated in the surrounding townships. For a recruiter, that means hospital and campus shift workers inside the city and a growing suburban ring just outside it.

Solo reps: apply anyway — we keep your application and reach out when Grand Rapids opens to solo reps.
How and when do I get paid?
Commission only, paid every two weeks on completed installs. No base. Individual results vary; no earnings are guaranteed.
What areas of Grand Rapids will I cover?
The partner sales organization that places you assigns the addresses you work. This page covers Grand Rapids and nearby areas such as Kentwood, Forest Hills, Rockford, Hudsonville, and Caledonia. It does not confirm a territory for you.
Is this a job or a 1099 contract?
This is a 1099 independent contractor opportunity — you set your own schedule within the partner's market; the partner sales organization provides its brand, scripts and support.
Are there door-to-door fiber sales jobs near me in Grand Rapids?
Yes — for teams. KnockFiber is recruiting door-to-door team leads and crews to sell T-Mobile fiber in Grand Rapids and the surrounding West Michigan area. If you run a door-to-door crew, or have two or more people ready to knock with you, apply as a team. Solo reps: apply anyway — we keep your application and reach out when Grand Rapids opens to solo reps. Commission-only 1099; individual results vary and no earnings are guaranteed.
Is T-Mobile Fiber available in Grand Rapids right now?
Yes, at serviceable addresses. As of September 2026, T-Mobile's availability page lists Grand Rapids and t-mobile.com publishes a Grand Rapids fiber page with 300 Mbps, 1 Gig and 2 Gig plans, noting service is "not available in all areas." The network is Metronet's: the builder says construction began in the city in September 2022, it announced an expansion starting near Michigan Street NE and Beltline Avenue NE in February 2023, and in January 2024 it said residents of South Central and Southwestern Grand Rapids could get installations. Metronet has been part of a T-Mobile and KKR joint venture since July 2025. AT&T also says AT&T Fiber is available in parts of the city.
Are Grand Rapids suburbs on T-Mobile's list?
Not by name as of September 2026: T-Mobile's Michigan list shows Grand Rapids itself but no Kent or Ottawa County suburb, so suburban addresses are checked one by one. Metronet's own market list is wider, naming Kentwood, Grandville, Jenison, Hudsonville, Byron Center and Caledonia; in Kentwood it broke ground in May 2023 and began connecting homes that September. Those suburbs are where the growth is: by Census estimates Caledonia Township grew about 8 percent from 2020 to 2024, Grandville about 6 percent, Byron and Gaines townships more than 5 percent and Hudsonville almost 5 percent, against less than 1 percent for the city.
How much snow does Grand Rapids get?
A lot. NOAA's 1991-2020 normals for the Grand Rapids airport station put average snowfall at about 78 inches a year, with nearly 23 inches in January alone, when the average high is about 31 degrees and the low about 19. Keep your device dry, dress in layers, and treat heavy-snow days as follow-up and appointment days. As a 1099 independent contractor, you set your own schedule around the weather.

Blitz teams

A blitz team travels to whichever market has just opened for door-to-door fiber sales — not necessarily this one — works it intensively for a set window, then moves on. KnockFiber is looking for blitz teams, blitz managers and reps who will travel to work fresh markets.
