Monroe, GA is the Walton County seat, incorporated in 1821 and about 40 miles east of Atlanta by the city's own description. Renters hold an estimated 57.7% of occupied homes and detached houses make up an estimated 59.9% of units (ACS 2020-2024), so a route would run apartment blocks and house streets side by side, planned from the Downtown Green and the Broad Street streetscape work that the city's report says began in late 2025.
In the 2020 Census Monroe, Georgia recorded 14,928 people, and the Census Bureau 2024 estimate is about 16,270 on roughly 15.7 square miles of land. Walton County's board of commissioners tops the city's 2025 employer list at 1,025 workers, ahead of the Walmart Distribution Center at 870 and Astemo Americas at 749, per a table in the city's 2025 annual report that cites the Code Department. By ACS 2020-2024 estimates, 7.8% of housing units were built from 2010 to 2019 and 1.3% since 2020.
